Pending scope change requests question
Submitted by prashant.spce on Wed, 07/25/2012 - 12:10
You are asked to take over a project with lot of pending scope change requests. To assess the
change impact, you should get hold of
A) Scope statement
B) WBS
C) Project Plan
D) Scope Management Plan
My answer here is D since it states clearly that there are pending scope change requests.
Please reply with urs with the explanation in case urs is different :-)

I will go with Option "A"
I will go with Option "A" since this is the base from which scope baseline is derived

the reason why i chose Scope
the reason why i chose Scope management plan is this that since there are pending scope changes which can be handled/managed by looking at the scope management plan.

RMC V 7 book.. page number
RMC V 7 book.. page number 112
it says that
"For example,if a question talks about a problem on a project, the answer might be for the project manager to
look at the management plan to see how the plan says to handle such a problem."

I will go with B.
In order to know the impact of change. YOu should have integrated approch . You need to analyze impact scope, cost and schedule. only PM plan can give you that.

IF PSS STOPS - WBS WILL AUTO STOPS
IF WBS STOPS - PSS WILL NOT STOP
HENCE OPTION A IS TRUE.

Right answer in mock test
Right answer in mock test question is WBS.
I framed a question here, check it with PMBOK
Since lot of pending change requests are to be reviewed, Two Team Members discussing, Why PM is insisting to hold project state statement, while hold on WBS is sufficient for, your best answer would be: Because
A. Many WBSs will be affected
B. Entire scope will be affected
C. Many constraints assumptions and milestones will not be fit to the new approved changes and to avoid affected WBS could be created on old constraints assumptions and milestones.
D. Due to approved changes Scope baseline will be affected and holding WBS means hold of entire Project scope statement
