Question after 2 Attempts
Hi Everyone,
I have a question that I would like to get an advice on because I am not sure what to do on this. So here it is… I have failed PMP exam twice and I have lost all the confidence that I had after failing on the second attempt, so I am not sure if I should even try to attempt on the third time, although I have time till the end of January 2013. Here is what I am thinking… what if I just don’t try the third attempt and reapply the whole new application in February 2013, that way I can start with a clean slate with 3 attempts in hand and this will also give me enough time to strategize my study.
Please let me know what do you guys think?
Thank you,
SK

Why not try the 3rd time
Why not try the 3rd time with good plan. Pass or Fail and then take a call?
As per my observation over 5 years:
50% people pass people in 1st attempt
90% people pass by 2nd attempt
98% people pass by 3rd attempt

killed the confidence
I am not sure if I am ready to see myself failing again…. My confidence is very low right now…. what do you suggest how long should I wait before I write for the 3rd attempt, considering I am getting married at the end of August. I never read PMBOK, all I read was the Rita (1 time)and PM Study notes (3 times). I know that I lacked in consuming more information but it wasn’t my choice to go for 2nd. I was forced into it but anyhow it’s in the past now.
Can you give me some idea on how to tackle this and how long should I wait before I consider trying for the 3rd time.
I really appreciate your input.

Passing PMP and getting married
Interesting plot….as I keep saying every PMP candidate is unique and different and so is your interesting case.
Passing PMP and getting married are similar because:
1. In reality, you never know why you passed PMP and the bigger reality, why you marry. These questions do not have answer.
2. In both PMP and Marriage you need to keep putting efforts to continue the credentials/relationship.
Back to your case now, my advice is that you go and get married because:
1. I see you have not at all prepared good, there are highly chance you will fail again.
2. If you fail again, you will spoil your marriage honeymoon mood. Your wife would be the biggest sufferer because of you.
3. If you pass PMP, your wife will question you during honeymoon, why are you so excited…is it because you finally passed PMP or because of marriage. In short, your wife will have some suspect on the reason for your happiness.
Don’t hurry as I say for PMP exam, your life partner and the biggest happy moment of life is close. Its said, with a lovely wife, everything changes…so I feel after your marriage you will have strong reason and bigger luck for passing PMP along with the PM knowledge you will gain in these time.

SK Dont forget that you
SK
Dont forget that you exactly know what the questions look like in real exam. This will help you in your preparation. Try to think about questions you were not sure of and pay more attention to those areas. Take more practice tests and check your score. I am sure you will pass in 3rd attempt considering you have spent lot of time studying for PMP.
Remember PMP is a start of you project management profession. You will get lot more recognition in market , which will help you in your career.
