Passed PMP Today
Hi all,
Happy to announce that I finally passed my PMP exam after an intense period of study!!
A few tips:
The exam is not easy! UNDERSTAND that there is no work around, no quick way of passing, no cheats or similar questions!
You need to know what your in for!
Study plan:
PMBOK - Didnt understand, couldnt remember anything, found it boring, fell asleep!
HeadFirst - Things started making sense again.. Excellent for easy "Brain friendly" explanations, practical excercises and good all round examples.
PMBOK - Made me cry, hated it, was bored to death! Understood a bit better!
Kim Heldman - Great! Perfect for getting a good grip on process flow, excellent real world scenarios, friendly read and excellent practice questions.
PMBOK - Speed read in two days before the exam!
Questions, many many many questions,
Rita fast track - All of them, each and every question, wrote down what I got wrong, researched the topics.
UCertify - Good for practice, but believe me when I say, the questions on the real exam is far from the questions on Ucertify... They are generally very easy.
Oliver Leham - Good for practice - did them once and again wrote down what I got wrong and studied the topics.
PMP Exam Formulas Mcraw Hill - Excellent for understanding formulas. Great explanations.
Oliver - Formula sheet - Excellent for formulas, also great for and complete explanations with good external references.
PMStudy - Free test - Scored 82% in 2nd month of study.
Exam Central - Good questions, good practice.
PMZILLA Phenomonal!! - This is a excellent wake up call! Remember as I stated, I have done many practice questions, this is by far the hardest, this will be a good indication on where you are at. Do good in this and your well on your way, but know that there is a vast pool of questions for PMP and not one of these practice questions that I have done were any where near the real deal!
Plenty of research on the NET, there are hordes of free exam questions.
Last three days before the exam I took some time of work, I used Cherries ITTO sheet, and did a thourough walk through on these, speed read through the explanations in PMBOK - Did not memmorize them but did do a mind map!
The format of the questions are not particularly long or hard, but they do require a good all round understanding of the concept of pmbok.
Formulas - not many, here and there there was a question on ev, evm and spi, there was one or two on critical path and float but again this was not particularly hard and the Oliver Lehman and Mgraw Hill, helped for this.
Other then that, I am delighted to say I am PMP Certified!
Final tip: KNOW YOUR WORK!!

Congrats
Congrats. Well Done!!!
One question, You say real exams vis-a-vis ucertify and they are easy. What exactly do you mean by "they"? The ucertfy tests are easy or the real PMP test questions?
Please clarify as I am one of the ucertify users. Thanks, KK...

Hay, the exm questions on
Hay, the exm questions on UCertify, are good for practice, but I found the questions to be easy, they are also easily obtainable on the net.
Just remember that this should not be your sole source, try many many other exams as well. In fact your better off using Oliver Leham.
