Need Advise - Exam Next Week

I need some advise as to what should be my action plan for the last 5 days before the real exam.

So far...

1. Read PMBOK 4th edition - 1 time

2. Then read Rita  6th edition - 1 time (solving questions for each scored 65-75% )

3. Then, took one 4 hour mock test with a score of  68%

4. Then, re-read Rita 6 chapters# 1 to 8 (2nd revision solving question for each scored 75% - 90%).

5. Spent some time understanding PMBOK Page 43, n/w diagram and Critical path/float, EV formulaes.

I wanted to re-read Rita and PMBOK and Headfirst/Andy crowe but didn't get time due to work commitments. Also wanted to solve 4 hour mock tests but now I have very little time.

What should be the next thing for me to do as my exam is coming Tuesday. Please advise as I defn want to pass this exam.

Thanks!

I would not advice you to read anything new now. If you can attempt around 70% answers correctly you can bag PMP. If you are not confident I would say post-pond it.

If you still decide to go, practice more and more IITO, PMBOK last summery pages. Look for Free questions available across. See from people posting LL’s what they referred at the last moments etc. Do these homework and plan your 5 days including full day weekends.

Good luck for the PMP exam.

Thank you! Saket.

I did score good when I read Rita the 2nd time in some othe areas (scope upto 90%). But since I could not read chapters 9 -13 2nd time, my plan is to read those today alongwith solving chapter end exercises.

Then revise all topics (notes, PMBOK glossary, ITTOs, formulaes, etc.)  and attempt one mock exam tonight to see where I stand.

Then re-study my weak areas tomorrow and attempt another mock exam tomorrow. Then repeat this until Sunday. On Monday just revise the notes, ITTOs, formulaes and take it easy until the real exam.

I have taken the next 5 days off from work and planning to spend atleast 12-14 hours every day including weekends.

But I want to solve quality mock tests given that the PMP exam was changed August 2011. So far from all the forum topics I read the following were recommended:

Head first, Oliver, PMStudy, Rita FASTrack.

Please let me know if there are any more quality tests. I am planning to give atleast Six  (if not more) 4-Hour Mock exams in the next 5 days.

Thanks!

Rameshbabu has already suggested good mock test below, try those as said. Since you have practiced Rita Fast Track you have already tried one of the best quality test material.

You took 5 days off, this is a big time, you could easily practice like 1500 questions in this time. Some of my students have cracked PMP in just 12-13 full days of preparations. 5 full day is a big time, make use of it.

I am sure, you must have read some PMP passing lesson learnt from this forum, go by those and make a good plan for these remaining 4 days and work on it.

Make sure, you sit in exam with confidence and patience.

All the best!

Many people have recommended PMStudy and PMPForsure paid exams which are closer in context to the real exam.

I will be attempting PMstudy free exam and would have bought PMPForsure paid exam which has over 1000 questions for $25 (I think) if I had some more time.

But I already have Rita FASTrack and given that many people here have said that it was not of much help other than going through the answer explanation which helped them think the PMI way.

But, I may not have enough time to look all of the questions in FASTrack. And I am not sure whether it would be worth while to purchase other simulator exam packages (PMStudy, PMP forsure, etc.) when I am doubtful that I many not even get a chance to take them.

Given my scenario, please let me know of any free quality mock exams (atleast 5-6 good ones). I will take them alongwith the Fastrack if time permits before the exam.

Thanks in advance.

So far...

1. PMBOK 4 - 1 time

2. Rita 6  - 1 time (chapter wise questions - 63-75%. In Risk & Professional & Social Responsibility - above 80%)

3. 1st Full Length Mock Exam - 68%

4. Rita 6 - 1 time  (total 2 times, attempted chapter wise questions - 75%-82% . Scored 90% in Scope Mgmt.)

5. Revised notes (including ITTOs)

6. 2nd Full Length Mock Exam - HeadFirst (Free test) - Overall Score 76% --> Is this good or average? Is Headfirst exam easy, medium or difficult?  (Process Group wise: Initiating process - 89%, Initiating process 89%, Executing process 74%, Monitoring & Controlling process 60%, Closing process 73%,  Professional & Social Responsibility 80%)

Weak areas: Monitoring & Controlling and Executing PG. Planning to study the processes in depth

Also, I am planning to take few more Mock exams.

But am I on the right track?? I appear for the real exam this Tuesday.

Please advise what my game plan for the next 4 days of preparation. Also any suggested quality mock exam sites.

Thanks!

Good going but from these test I see you on border line. Read PMBOK and try some more test to score little better.

Saket, PMP

I attempted few more mock exams and here are the results:

1st Mock - Provided by REP (Registered Education Provider) - 68%

2nd Mock - Headfirst  (free) - 76%

3rd Mock - Rita Fastrack Super PMP - 54.9% ..................... Could not complete all questions. Very wordy questions and I thought they were way tougher than the chapter wise questions in Rita's book . KInd of made me nervous)

4th Mock - PMStudy (free) - 70.86%   ...............was running 1/2 hour behind time. Luckily, stormed through the last few questions to finish the exam with just one minute left to review.

Now apart from the challenge to keep focus for 4 hours, I also know my strong and weak areas (60%-65% in  Scope, Cost, Quality, HR, Risk & Professional Responsibility areas).

I think I need to revise study materials in these areas. But I have exactly 3 days before my real exam. How should utilize my time? Study more or give a few more mock exams?

Fast track score is low which is concerning.
