Post PMP....What now??
Submitted by RP on Wed, 05/09/2012 - 09:22
Hi Colleagues,
Some may remember me as I used to be very active on this forum a couple months back and after having a well deserved break post PMP, I'm back!
Now to all my PMP Colleagues, how are you furthering yourself in the field? Ive thought about PMI ACP or even PGMP but none at this point seem appealing to me. Any experiences or advice would be greatly appreciated!

Was these also applicable to you?
Post PMP I have seen three common things among my students:
1. Lots of parties and after getting PMP credentials people start talking like Managers (PMP'ism) even their tone changes. They start talking the same way with their kids too…..common sense lost! Hahahaha
2. After some days, the office email address changes e.g. abcd@company1.com becomes abcd@company2.com
3. I also see people excited for maintaining PMP credentials for the first 6 months, after this it vanishes. (Mystery)
Was these also applicable to you?
All PMP Aspirants – be excited for PMP from now, see how it changes the life. :)

Agree with you Saket_PMP
For me it's just a checklist item to complete. I work as a PM so it would be good to have the PMP designation but it is not going to change my life or salary.
Apart from PMP, I don't see any value addtion by getting other certificates in Project Management. Just go to monster, careerbuilder or any job site and use other certificate beside PMP as a keyword and see how many job postings are there for those candidates who have these fancy certificates.

PMP is really the first
PMP is really the first milestone . Going forward you can consider following options, based on you what your career aspirations are. DOnt just go for more certifications for the sake of it.
More important that doing more certifications is applying the already learnt skills and learnng further on the job.
