Passed PMP First Try 9th April 2012

 Hi All,

I passed the PMP exam today, thanks for all the tips I can find in this community.

A little story that the exam PC hanged, three mins before the time runs out, had to wait for an hour for the IT guy to fix it. (What a wait !) Then I finish off the 3 mins and happily see this.

To share my study plan, it took me 2 months to prepare, but honestly I only get into action in the last month, and therefore I never really read the PMBOK, so here it goes my plan:

  1. Went through the Rita Exam Prep once (was only at Integration chapter at the beginning of second month), finished all the exercises and prep exam questions at the end of the each chapter
  2. Only four days left till exam after I finished the Rita book. Therefore I started right away to work on exam questions, it is important to go through all the questions that you got wrong, and the one you were unsure, find out the gaps in your study, and from there refer to PMBOK. I saved alot of time that way from reading the whole PMBOK
  3. Headfirst (50 Qns) - score around 76%, this is easy
  4. PMStudy - Test 1 (200 Qns) - score 69%, this is a good exam to find out gaps in your study
  5. PM FASTrack - Super PMP (200 Qns) - score 59%, this is an eye opener, as the questions are lengthy and gets you tired, I did it in late night and didnt manage to finish all questions in four hours. It is important to go through the answers and explanation here
  6. Spent half a day to cover the gaps, just search by keywords and go to the specific sections in PMBOK
  7. Studied the tips (18 pgs) from PMPSure (You get the tips also once you pay for their exam questions, $25 USD for 1000 Qns database), the tips is a good summary, save your time from preparing your own notes
  8. PMZilla (30 Qns)
  9. PMPSure (600 Qns) - Test 1, Test 3, Test 6, Test 7, Test 8, Test 9. This is quite close to the exam questions, I scored mostly around 70 - 76%, and once for 80%. Rarely got Proficient here in those tests
  10. Read the PMPSure tips again on the way to the exam center.

I did not memorize the ITTO, I find it a waste of time, just understand the concept. You know what are the gaps you have when you do the questions, do remember to mark them and revisit the answer, then review the relevant info from PMBOK.

Good luck to your exam too !

Best Regards,

congrats ...

Wowwww, congratulations!

By PMPSure do you mean www.pmpforsure.com?

I did see 1-2 people only talking good in this forum about this website, so was under impression that it could be just marketing stunts. But with new LL’s coming and people talking good about it, I think I made a wise decision to but it yesterday. Their price is too less from others. So far it looks excellent.

I am also planning to buy PMStudy 2 Test, any idea how it is? I have heard its good. Did you but PMZilla questions?

 Thanks :)

Yes I meant www.pmpforsure.com, I guess if you manage to finish all their paid tests you should be good to go for the real exam. As I only managed to finish six of the paid tests and I already find the real exam kind of easy.

I did not buy PMStudy and PMZilla,

For PMStudy I only tried their free test, but many people are saying their Test 3 and Test 4 are good
