Stakeholder Analysis

When do you perform stakeholder analysis?
 
A. When managing communications on your project
B. When developing the project charter
C. When creating the project management plan
D. When putting changes through change control
 
Can anyone tell me please why option A is the correct choice.
 
i think correct choice should be Option B. Stakeholder analysis is done to identify stakeholder which is performed during project inititation.

It cannot be "B".

During project charter only stakeholders identified.

Their impact,influence(stakholder analysis) is not part of the charter.

I go with "C", because PM plan talks about 'techniques for communicating among stakeholders'.

One of the technique is 'stakeholder anlysis'.

Creating PM Plan is too broad an item. Stakeholder analysis is for communications hence , closest is A.

So, answer is Communication Management.

As per PMBOK 5th edition, the answer should be clearly B since Stakeholder Analysis is a T&T of Identify Stakeholders which is done in Initiation of the project.

Option B is "When developing the project charter".
You are saying stake holder analysis is done during Initiation of the project. But there is no such option given.

I agree with you Stake holder analysis is done in Identify stake holders(Initiation), since the option is not given.
The next best option is "C" ie When creating the project management plan.

Coz, in develop project mgmt. plan process,
the PM plan is updated for "requirements and techniques for communication among stakeholders".

I agree with others this question is not framed correctly.

Stakeholder Analysis gives you a list of who need to be taken into consideration throughout the project which is preparing "Stakeholder List", an output result as part of "Develop Project Charter" - Reference: Page 72 PMBOK 5th ed.

Identifying stakeholders process is initiating to closing.

In some special case, more stakeholders found in except initiation.

What about this stakeholders analysis is not going to consider or not?

Where you going to considering it?

Correction- Identify stakeholder process is not till closure.

Identify stakeholder process is only during Project initiation. This creates stakeholder register first time.

However, for any stakeholder addition,deletion,modification will happen till  M&C.

Stake holder register is a project document, which contains upto date list of stakeholders.

Stake holder register is an output of

1) Plan stakeholder Management

2) Manage stakeholder engagement

3) Control stakeholder engagement.

Hope this clarifies.

The bottomline is "Identify stakeholder" process is in Intiation Process group only.

In response to your above replies dated 5/12/2014 and 5/13/2014, you stick with choice C i.e when creating Project Management Plan.
 
Whereas i am asking is in above post in special case newly found stakeloders anyalysis is going to consider relate to this question in which choice this stakeholders analysis falls.  Is still falls in choice c?
