Need right answer

 Your project has faced some unforeseen issues that have delayed it. The project is very critical for the company and it has to meet the scheduled deadline. In order to meet the deadline your team would have to work over the weekends for the next two weeks. However, you know that many of the team members will have some personal commitments and it will be very difficult for them to work for seven consecutive days. What is the BEST option for you?

 
1. Hire additional resources and brief them about the project
2. Inform the customer that this deadline can't be met
3. Discuss the situation with the team and give them the choice to willingly work overtime
4. Send an official mail making it compulsory for the team to come and work over the weekends

  3 is correct but why ? I thought working weekends or overtime is not a good option

If the project is so critical, then it needs to be done in time.

If many team members have personal commitments, very few might agree to willingly work overtime in which case we have to go for option 1 anyhow in order to meet the deadline. So just go with option 1.

(Option 3 seems tempting, but it might not give the desired result. I would have chosen option 3 if the question had asked me for the FIRST thing to do.)
