free float and total float
In your project, an activity on the critical path has been delayed by two days. However, when reviewing your project schedule, you determine that you have another activity with 3 days free float and a third activity with 9 days total float. Assuming that similar resources are required for all activities in the project, what should you do?
1.
Use the resource from the activity with 3 days free float
2.
Use the resource from the activity with 9 days total float
3.
Try to get an additional resource to complete the delayed activity
4.
Use the resources from both the activities

No, the answer is given as A
No, the answer is given as A stating that when options of both free float and total float are given like this we need to go free float as, Free float affects immediately following activities
I would like to have clarity on this concept, please

Free Float is only for next
Free Float is only for next activity as per this question . If you use resource from that activity you can afford to delay it by 3 days. but if you use from Total Float , without looking at network diagram you cannot pull out resource.
I would suggest draw a small network diagram where you have free float and total float and then you will be able to understand.
Simply adding resource may not be an option, since it will increase the cost
