When to use PM Plan as Input?

I have noticed that there are processes that take the PM plan as input, and there are some processes that take the subsidiary plan as input instead of the PM plan.

When do we use the PM plan as an input, and when should we use the subsidiary plans as input instead of the PM plan?

Thanks in advance.

The answer is simple really. While we can't say 'always' or 'never,' we can generalize. Once the project management plan developed (at the end of the planning phase of a project), then it becomes an input to all Executing, Monitoring/Controlling, and Closing processes.

The PMP is also inputs to some of the initial planning of the knowledge areas...example scope management plan, project management plan is an input, then in that knowledge planning group the scope management plan takes over.
