Two weeks after PMP...
Hi all,
As I had posted,I passed PMP on July 2nd but was busy over the last two weeks so couldn't post..
Being able to write my LL on PMZilla - DREAM COME TRUE!!!
I would like to keep it short so will mention only the imp points..
Firstly thanks to the Almighty and my family for the tremendous support and also my mentors(Mr.Thomas Kurian,Mr.Naeem Farooqui,Ms.Maryam Amin)for their guidance
I have started the PMP process back in July 2013 but kept postponing until June 2014.During the early days, one of the Google searches landed me on PMZilla page and that was a turning point..Got some basic info, purchased Rita 8 but didn't study..
I realized it was difficult to pursue PMP within my super-hectic work schedule. In June 2014,I took my annual leave and started serious preps.
Took the following exams - OL,Scordo,PMP4Sure,Whizlab
For me Rita end of chapter was more than enough.I just did the others to boost my confidence.didnt get time for pmstudy.
The day before exam
--------------------
Now this was really tense.I knew I was prepared but was thinking about the worst.I had read a good night's sleep is mandatory. So hit the bed very early but believe it or not,I COULDN'T SLEEP.In fact,I didn't sleep the whole night.Tried every trick including a hypnotising video on Youtube (ended up with a big headache).
I knew I would get over this only after the exam.
Prometric Centre
-----------------
Got there 1 hour early.I was thinking PMP was the longest exam but realised there were API 570 candidates as well (8 hours long). The staff admitted all 30 minutes prior.I donno why all the staff were females.
The checking they have can further fuel your anxiety.Metal detector, pulling out pockets, checking ankles, everything..
The cubicle was really cozy, silent and comfortable. They also provided paper, pencil, calculator.Did the dump but never referred to it.
Exam
-----
Like many have mentioned here, the first 50 questions were really tough and took 45 minutes.I was really down. But picked up pace afterwards and finished in 3 hours. After 100,I was confident.
Questions from all topics
LOT of questions on Change Control,EVM,Risk,Procurement,Closing,Tuckman ladder(easiest),S curve,Quality(Control Charts),RACI
2-3 bizarre questions including one CPM with all types of relationships.
Finished before the time but didn't leave before 4 hours.Completed survey and the screen flashed for sometime(Long) and finally the congrats appeared(As they say in the ad,a priceless moment)
The staff congratulated me and handed over the print-out.
End Notes
-----------
Regardless of the hype, the exam is not that tough. If you have put in the hard work and can stand the pressure, will definitely get through.Just follow one book especially for the rationale behind situational questions.Solve a lot of practice questions as well(Ignore OL and PMP4Sure if don't have time).
Never prepare keeping the 61% pass mark in mind, aim higher so that we are not disappointed.Rita prepares you for the worst.I couldn't take a chance so I studied all the ITTOS.I guess its better. You must score full in the Maths portion. Also don't ignore one word questions(I got about 6 of them)
I found some topics are confusing/hard to remember/not sufficiently explained.I've compiled it n a word File which I'm sharing.Please have a look.
All the best to the future PMP aspirants.
This has been a really memorable journey with PMZilla
