Topics/Concepts not covered in PMBOK

Hi All,

Could somebody help me with the list of concepts/topics which are either not covered or not sufficiently explained in PMBOK and one generally see questions from these topics in PMP exam. These might have been covered in other books like Rita or Head First.

Thanks in advance.

 Hi Pankaj,

It's a question which will have a lot of answers. I am not a PMP but hoping will become one in couple of days. Here is my two cents based on what i prepared.

PMBOk does cover all the concept but you really need to have good experience in Project management to grasp all those details from PMBOK. Remember as people say in this forum.. Its alll about understanding scenario and relating to that to PMBOK process. This will be challening  If you have very limited PM experience.

RITA will explain  PMBOK in more real time scenairo. Also some of the below secition i find more in Rita

1)HR theories

2)EVM calculation

3)Project selection criteria ( More interms of which one give you accurate decission)

4)Procureent Contract types, Additiona industry terminologies.

5) One really important about Rita that is not in PMBOX is, Each process RITA will tell you how many questions you may get.. So you know the importance of that process when you prepare.

All the best for your preparations..

Hi Pankaj,

As a thumb rule If you study Rita 7th edition along with PMBOK (There are latest docs related to PMI RDS study also on PMI site) probability is that you will cover 90-95% syllabus ..best way to uncover your gaps is to chose full 7-8 quality mock tests and see where you get questions which you never saw.....good mock test providers also grey out 25 dummy questions so you get an idea which questions are not from the core curriculum .....
