TODAY IS A GREAT DAY.

Dear All,

Today is a great day for me as I succeeded to PASS PMP in 2nd attempt. Firstly I would like to thank my family members for the support and PM Zilla Forum for providing excelant guidance for PMP aspirants.

I felt the exam was little tough for me as I appreared for this type of full time exam after 24 years (my engineering final exam was in the year-1988). I consider this exam should not be tough for young and medium age group and those who practice the knowledge areas mentioned in the PMBOK guide in their project management.

PMP EXAM:-

I took full four hours to complete the exam and briefly the questions paterns are as mentioned below....

1) Most of the questions are situational.

2) Many questions are with 2-3 paragraphs.

3) More than 15 questions  are formula related and are from time & cost. 50% of the questions are tough to solve.

4) Only one or two questions from professional & social responsibility.

My Lesson Learned may be same as many forum participants writting every day. But I would like to suggest below for the aspirants who would like to become PMP.

1. Decide really you want to become PMP.

2. Acquire PMBOK guide.

3. Read from first page to last page like a story book. If you understand something it is better if not much better.

4. Attend 35 contact classes now you will get to know what is in PMBOK. Be attentive in the classes and try to get clarification if you have any doubt.

5. Aquire RITA (I like this book).

6. Now start reading PMBOK guide seriously chapter by chapter and refer to the corresponding chapter in RITA. My suggestion is not to attend chapter end questions for the first round (if happens to get less score you may lose confidance)

7. After completing first round repeat s/n-6 reading pattern mentioned above and now attend the Rita chapter end questions to know how much you agained the knowledge.

8. After third round defenetly you will be ready for the exam and I am sure you will become PMP.

9. Ensure to attempt 3-4 complete 4-hours exams before attending PMP exam.

I wish you all the best for new aspirants and like you see your LL in PM Zilla.

Chandrashekhara.

For the tough formula questions did they give you a lot of data you didn't need?  Or were they tough because you had to do multiple formula's to get to the correct answer?  Did you have to draw out detailed network diagrams?
