Starting PMP Preparation
All,
I'm going to start my PMP Prepartion from scratch only now. Please can you help me, with my following questions. Though for some i already know the answers, it will be great if the experts can confirm on it.
Below are the steps I'm planning to do.
1) Take the 35 hours PDU Certificate by attending trainings
2) Register in PMI
3) Buy the following Books (Is there any other book required)
- PMBOK Version 4
- Rita Mulchany Version 6
4) Downloaded the notes given by people from this Forum
5) Where to Download ITTO and Memory Map from
6) Chapter wise Questions...Where to take it from ?
7) PMP Simulation Questions... Where to take it from ?
8) Which are the forums to register to
Study Plan
1) Take the PDUs
2) Read PMBOK fully
3) Read Rita Fully
4) Take Chapter wise Questions
5) Go Thru PMBOK and RIta
6) Take the PMP MOdule Test twice
7) Go Thru PMBOK and Rita if any queries
8) Take the PMP MOdule Test Till score above 75%
9) Take and pass the PMP
I know this is a detailed plan but I'm sure it will help a lot of PMP Aspiratns. Most of them dont know where to start and how to go about it. Your inputs would be valuable.
Thanks,
Sudha

Hi Sudha
The plan is good and thanks for writeup. As for your questions
5) Where to Download ITTO and Memory Map from
- Some memory aids are on this site and ITTO is already there in RN's notes.
6) Chapter wise Questions...Where to take it from ?
- Rita's book has great questions at the end. Any PMP book you will have questions at the end.
7) PMP Simulation Questions... Where to take it from ?
- Take only 4-5 full tests from any site, you can see the links to free exams here and otherwise I will recommended take PMZilla full test, it has some great reviews from people who have taken it.
8) Which are the forums to register to.
PMZilla, PMHub should be more than enough.
Beware... there are lots and lots of materials, forums etc available on the web. Dont get carried away by reading too much stuff... You will waste a lot of time... That's why only visit moderated forums and sites, otherwise most people would have just posted junk for the sake of promoting their products.
Also you can start reading Rita's book even before you go for you PDU collection... Repitition is the mother of skill .
Regards.,
Sudha Sai

Your approach seems very solid, and wish you the best of luck.
I'd just advise to make sure to do many practice problems so that you are able to handle them when you take the test. This is very important.

Preparation plan for PMP
Is the preparation plan for PMP reasonable and tested or merely have been written mechanically. Hope so not, since there are many people, who simply jot anything just for the heck of writing. Health issues are serious thing, they cannot be taken lightly, hence while sharing such things, and we need to be more conscious in doing so. I am sorry if my comments hurt you, since I have seen lots of forums misleading people, hence I have raised this concern. I really appreciate the way you have shared that plan.Study-Guides
