Rolled Throughput Yield (RTY)
Submitted by chrism2 on Thu, 09/23/2010 - 02:03
Does anyone know if this topic (RTY) is really part of what has to be studied for the PMP exam? I couldn't find any reference of it on the PMBOK 4th edition.
TIA,
-Chris

Hi Chris
I think its out of syllabus, but if you are interested in the concept you can read this article. It would be good to know
http://lssacademy.com/2007/09/12/calculating-rolled-throughput-yield-rty/
It will be useful for PMs in estimation , productivity calculations. After you have read the above, one example from my side,
If you are developing a software , generally we say that X , Y , Z is available for UAT. So while calculating productivity we dont take into account all the test cycles and re-test cycles that we may have done to make it available for UAT. RTY will give you the correct productivity and you will be in better position to estimate future work
