Page 131. Q.17 : You are taking over a project during project planning and discover that six individuals have signed the project charter. Which of the following should most concern you ?

A.  Who will be member of the change control board

B.  Spending more time on configuration management

C.  Getting a single project sponser

D.  Determining the reporting structure.

Rita's Answer : B. Determining who will be on the change control board and determining the reporting structure may have already been done. In any case, these choices are not directly impacted by the number of sponsors who have signed the charter. Having single project sponsor is not necessary. This situation implies that there are six areas concerned with the project. In addition to added communication requirements, you should be concerned with competing needs and requirements impacting your efforts on configuration management.

I have boldened the contradictory statements. I checked page 74 of PMBOK, it didnt say there should be one single project sponser.

Experts, plz. help.

Practically speaking the project can have multiple sponsors , read this page http://www.imakenews.com/imaworldwide/e_article001887206.cfm

However I dont agree with Rita's answer., no where in the question it says that there are 6 multiple tracks, I guess this is just an attempt to wake up the readers rather than provide any real value. Just because 6 people have signed charter does not mean there are six areas concerned with the project., and even if there were 6 areas, it does not say anywhere that configuation management is an issue.

As PMP aspirant I would ignore such questions and move on , You should know what to dwell upon and where to ignore .

First look into the choices of answers given. The answer choice B is diferent, so we need to select the best answer for the same question.

In the stakeholder register we have defined everything structure & resonsibility also reviewers.

The project sponsor is generally the biz department(s) for whom the project is initiated. The project charter is generally signed by many people.

In this case the answer C is the best choice.

In this case the answer B is the best choice, since the more number of people involved in providing requirements your project becomes more complex.

One more thing, usually there are questions as a PM what would you do next, sometimes you might not find the next best activity in the choices but the activity after that so we select that one.

Like after defining scope we create WBS but WBS is not mentioned in the answer choices... but an activity after that.

Similarly for the above question we need to think that.

I would still go with Rita in this case. Since that sounds more suitable answer as compared to the Finding Single Sponsor. You can always have multiple sponsors and there is no problem with that.

Also having multiple sponsor doesn't means we will have any issues.
