Re-take PMP Tips

Hello,

I am studying tyo re-take the exam but I don't know what exactly to study. I went into the exam with good knowledge of all the material provided by pmstudy. I made sure I got a 90% or higher on all 4 pmstudy practice exams and read through all the supporting information to each question.

But I still did not pass....I am assuming it is because 80% of the exam was situational based and not straight answers from the book. Many of the questions ended with what should you do next?

Now that I am trying to gather myself and study for the re-take I realize that I can't go through the same exam questions because I already know the answers and the reasoning behind them so that won't help.

The only thing I can think of is to go over the PMBOK and Rita's again.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks!

Rita and PMBOK reading now...

my retake is Dec 13. I am readin through those two but I also purchased the BrainBok so well see if that helps...

Any other suggestions??

 Hi,

I am not sure if you have gone through the PMP Exam Prep: Questions, Answers, & Explanations, 2012 Edition by  Christopher Scordo . This is free for PMI memberss..

Come from last mock.. start mock 18 and come back. This has lot of situational questions..

Thanks

You should never rely on only 1 source of mock tests, We generally recommend taking mock test from atleast 2 reputed sources.

Thank you for the tip, I'm now using the exam central practice exam, pmzilla tough 200 and brainbok. I realize that I need to understand the ITTO much better....

There were a few questions that confused me on the exam and I was hoping you could answer:

1) If there is alot of uncertainty in the scope of the project then what type of contract should you use?

I believe the answer here is either Time and Material or is it Cost Reimb, which one is the better option?

2) What if the question is reworded to say if the scope is very certain which type of contract?

I would think the answer is FFP but is that always the case regardless of if you are the seller or the buyer

3) I may be wrong but I recall there being a question where they gave me the optimistic, pessimistic and most likely days and asked for the estimate duration but did NOT tell me which method to use i.e., PERT, Var, SD. Is this really a valid way to ask the question? If so do I simply use the PERT formula?

Thanks!

Hi

Can you give some examples how real questions are like.

How many are farmula based and if the standard farmulas like

SV,CV,SPI,CPI,EAC,VAC are sufficent to answer those

Which are you find most confusing in the real exam.

The questions are right on point and make you think, i did all 204questions try them.
