report forecast

The correct answer is given as ( C )

When calculating EAC, how to know which formula to use. In this case, EAC = BAC / CPI, is the formula used.

EV=250000, BAC = 500000, AC = 275000

CPI = EV/AC = 250000/275000 = 0.909

EAC = 500000/0.909 is yielding answer ( C )

But how to know that "EAC forecast for ETC work performed at present CPI" is used?

 In my understanding if nothing is mentioned (typical/atypical), use formula EAC= BAC/CPI

 Thank You

 EAC= BAC/CPI , is the default we should use till the time question is not giving an indication of case... typical or atypical

In the question, i think “40% of work should hv been completed” does not translate to any dollar value for PV. So, SPI may not necessarily be 0.9 or 1.25.

40% proj work may or may not be directly proportional to the rate of expenses on the project.

Pls correct me if am wrong.

Hint: the option ‘A’ would have been true if the question asked would have been like what is CPI and SPI for this project or whether cost is overrun and ahead of schedule something like that..

But the question is straight asking about the forecast, forecast is related to EAC or ETC but the option provided is for EAC only, so, EAC should be reported. In this context EAC formula to be used is BAC/CPI, as there is reference to typical, atypical or original estimate at flaw soemthing

Regards, CN Patil

In that case, SPI = EV/PV = 250k / (0.4x500k) = 1.25-though not requested for reporting.

however, this question does not make reference to typical, atypical or original estimate at flaw soemthing

Thanks.
