question from Rita Mulcachy

This is a question from Rita Mulcachy:

A project manager has just taken over the project from another project manager during project executing. The previous project manager created a project budget, determined communications requirements, and went on to complete work packages. What should the new project manager do NEXT?

A. Coordinate completion of work packages.

B. Identify quality standards.

C. Begin the Identify Risks process.

D. Execute the project management plan.

Please state your answers with reasonable explanations. Thanks.

Answer could be "B". Quality standards are not determined during planning phase after which risks can be identified.

Please provide  the correct answer and correct me if I am wrong..

Your answer, as per Rita Mulchachy, is correct. However, would you mind elaborating on your rationale.

As per the question, the project is currently in the execution phase. This implies that planning is already completed and quality standards should have been identified (as part of Quality Planning). Please correct me if my interpretation is wrong.

Thanks.

We can say clearly that previous project manager did not finish planning process completely. As per the question,he created project budget , communication plans , which means he completed scope, schedule , cost and communication in planning phase. He leftout with Quality , Risk (HR plan is also completed as budget is already prepared)

A is done after project planning.
B - Yes B can be done

C -After B , we can take up this

D- To do this, planning process should be completed

So, Answer is B.

Correct me if I am wrong..

Thanks

OK, I think I get what you are saying here. Thanks for your inputs.

This question is about "Rita's Chart" which is of no use in the real exam IMO.

^ definitely, no doubt about it. The question is all about knowing the chapter sequencing.

A and D are gone for the obvious reasons. Quality comes before Risk so B
