Question about Rita's process chart
Hi,
I have studied Rita's Process chart in her book, which is supposed to be very important.
My question is about two activities in Planning process in her Process Chart. Rita says in her book, that this is the only process group where exact order is important). Now, I don't understand why she put's "Determine what to purchase" and "Determine team" after "Create project scope statement" and before "Create WBS and WBS dictionary"?
If I compare this with PMBOK table of processes and knowledge areas (pg. 43, I think), "Create WBS" is right after "Define scope" (which means Create project scope statment in Rita Process Chart), then followed by Time knowledge area with "Define activities", "Define sequence of activities" etc... "Determine what to purchase" is "Plan procurements" by my logic, and this is at the end of planning processes if I compare it with PMBOK, and "Determine team" is part of Human resources planning (which is also done later in planning process). Also, If I simply follow logic, I would put those two activities later: how should I determine what to purchase or determine team, If I didn't yet create neither WBS, neither activity list or estimated resource requirements for activities (from which I could see which resources I don't have and therefore I need to purchase something)?
How would you explain this (if you know Rita's Process Chart)?
BTW: What do you think about Rita Process Chart? I think that it has some added value, but must say that level of details in the activities e.g. processes in her Chart is very confusing (table in PMBOK is more clear to me).

You can safely skip the
You can safely skip the process chart, take whatever you can take from that. Dont worry too much about that.

Yes, I agree. I find this process chart very problematic. It is confusing as you say.
I am reading the PMBOK Guide and find it very clear and easy to understand it, although it follows the Knowledge Areas instead of the Process Groups.
So I believe the real thing is to learn the ITTOs. You will understand them and memorize them very easy if you have in mind working on a Project with the sequence of the Process Groups (which is how you will work in reality on a Project, and not with knowledge areas).
