Project and Program

Kidney transplant surgery can be viewed both as a project and a program. Why?

Answers :
A)Because kidney usage does not have a definite ending, the project is also a program.
B)Because the surgery requires a tremendous amount of resources, it is considered a project.
C)The surgery is a project; the ongoing support is a program.
D)Getting the skills and resources is a program. Scheduling and coordinating the skills and resources is a project.

Answer is C. How come ongoing supoort can be considered as program

 program means many projects

like

retransplant

cleaning

testing

hence C

Kindly clarify me on this..

Which category does Operations in an organization belong to - Programs or Portfolio management ? Is it Org dependent?

Well..its a general doubt..not related with the above question..

I have seen some questions testing like

"Operations come under which management.."; given the choices as program or portfolio..ans was program..So thot of clarifying it if it really was, since pmbok doesnt classify so..

FIRST of all he is talking only for project and program , why you are thinking other than this.

oprations do not have any end date.

where like projects programs have ending date.

looks wiered question...

The Operation is not directly liked to Program , the operation is like macdonals running shop for burger...   but yes one shop of macdonans is part of its retail portfolio.

When we talk about operation the focus is running a preditable service / process which will remain forever...

Program is a related group of projects to achieve a strategic objective. In my opinion, its only a project and even with ongoing support in scope it cannot be considered as a program.

Building a flyover can be program, since it has to deal with multiple stakeholders, Getting the pillars raised can be one project by vendor X, tarring the road can be another project by Vendor Y, Doing electrical fittings on the flyover can be 3rd project by vendor Z.   Collectively you build a flyover and you achieve the strategic objective which may be to ease congestion on the road.

This question and the answers given are absurd. I would recommend not to use such sources.

Please post this question on webMD forum, it does not make sense on a PMP forum like this.

If ur patient died, then kidney surgery was a project as that patient's life got start date and end date. If lots of patients died in that hospital due to kidney surgery then it is a program, may be it won't fill hospital business strategy. But some stake holders like competing hospital in the near by street shall be happy.

Now if some patient survived and some died, since they r not interealted they can be manged by a neutral portfolio manager under which evil and angel project manager shall report.
