Probability:hope it will clear
Probability:
Here 3 questions on probability, hope it will clear that where, what will be applicable ?
Q1
There is 15% probability that vendor labour will be on strike. And there is 25% probability that coming labourers will not do work. What is net (total) probability of workforce will not be at work.
ANSWER
There is 85% probability that vendor labour will come to work. But again there is 75% probability that coming labourers will work.
Here probability will come by multiplication = 0.85*0.75 = 0.6375 ~ 63.75%, that labour will be at work
Hence 100-63.75 = 36.25% or 0.3625 chances is that labourers will not be at work.
Q2
There is probability that 15% labour will be on strike, and 25 % will go on festival, what is total probability that labour will not come on work?
ANSWER
Here probability will be added = 15+25 = 40% or 0.40 probability that labourers will not come at work.
Q3
There is 15 % probability that vendor labour will be on strike, and in alternate head office can provide labour but there is 25% probability that labour will not be arranged in time.
What is net probability that labour will not be at work
ANSWER
Here you have 2 sources with different probability
In 1st case Out of 100 there are 15 chances labourers will not at work
In 2nd case out of 100 there are 25 chances labourers will not come.
Hence out of 200 there are 15+25 =40 chances that labourers will not come
Hence net probability in % = 40/200 = 20% or 0.20, that labourers will not come.
