PMP as per PMBOK 5

Hi All

I am new to PMP and initially I thought I would be going for PMP Cert before July 31st so that the exam will be as per PMBOK4. I have completed 35 PDUs last month.

As of now I am half way through with PMBOK 4.Now I am in dilemma and need your suggestions. Since there is not much time left, I don't think it will be sensible to sit for exam before July 31st. Am I correct in my thinking?

This is what I am planning to do now.If I prepare as per PMBOK 5 for 3-4 months, I think I will be fine. By that time, sample questions will be available as per PMBOK 5 and Rita's 8th edition is also going to be published soon. If I plan for my certification by Nov/Dec 2013, will it be fine?

 Hello Man_PMP,

Preparing for the exam is really relative to the individual involved. So if you can assimilate the 4th edition material before the phase out date, then why not take the exam? If you feel you need more time, take your time and start reading using the 5th edition.

Personally, I will advise you do all you can to take the test using the 4th edition material since it has been around for about 4 years. If you can't, please take your time, the investment for PMP much and you don't want to waste your money.

I will suggest take exam with 4th edition, as there are lot of practice exams available with 4th edition, 6-8 weeks of prep time should be enough for you to give exam. Also as you just completed 35 PDU requirement recently all that info is still fresh  J

Thanks Terick and Sanskrit. I got same kind of suggestions from my friends also.

I have prepared a study plan and will stick to it.

Thanks alot for your inputs.
