Very nice question.

Your question is same like, what after getting a washing machine? Simple, make use of it!

This universe has formed with a business and so are we humans and this global competitive corporate world. Saying “I did PMP to gain PM knowledge” is a political statement. Getting PMP credential has business involved in reality. Whether you accept it openly or not, it’s your private call.

So, you are PMP now, did you sell yourself with PMP prefix? Selling is not as easy as getting PMP credentials. Selling involves marketing, making use of knowledge gained over a period of time including PMP certification. Question yourself, after getting PMP did you make use of PMP to grow vertically and financially? I am sure, you cannot do these in a month, it takes times. Why not think on these broader aspects instead of thinking what next.

Again, this is my take, please see what other say and of-course always go by your own conscience.

Personally after doing PMP, I was able to do my job much better, speak with more authority and brought more value to the projects, due to my improved project management skills. Rita's book was very good from practical purpose,  you should do more reading on how real like issues are solved and then compare it with what could have been a better approach. If the answer is no then you learn from that instance.

As PM you must constantly keep in touch with professional groups,  try to take more complex work to further hone your PM skills.
