Is PMP Certification worth for Shipyard/Shipbuilding Industries?

Is PMP useful for production and fabrication professionals? Because, I searched about PMP on net and found that max. of PMPs are from IT field. So, I got perplexed whether PMP is useful for fabrication/production manager in shipyards in same way or not? I bag experts’ opinion whether to do PMP or not. I am graduate production engineer and an Asst. manager in a reputed shipyard firm in India since last 03 Years and my total experience is of 8 Years.

The Project management
The Project management concepts in PMBoK 4 are generic to any industry. I would suggest you pickup one of the study materials from Library or freely available on internet and glance through the topics of PMP to see if you follow the same PM methods
Theoratically speaking it should be helpful in your work too.
