PMP Boot Camps - Which is the best?

Greetings,

I am new to this forum and I greatly appreciate any information that can be provided to me about the plethora of physical classroom PMP boot camps.

I have been doing a decent amount of research (via Google) and have basically broken it down to the following boot camps:

Edwel which is a 4-day camp and costs $1,385

Project Management Training Institute (PMTI) which is a 4-day camp and costs $1,890

PMstudy which is a 4-day camp and costs $1,899

All of the above listed camps have similar programs and have high 90s first time pass rates.  They all offer assistance and money back if you do not pass the first time.

I have a basic background in PM though my job (able to fulfill the time requirement) and have doing a Master’s Degree in PM (fulfills the education requirement) but I do not feel that I am 100% confident in all of the content that will be on the exam and thus am searching our a boot camp.

My plan would be to take a four day camp and then sit for the exam on the 5th day.

Again I would appreciate any feedback, ideas, and suggestions about the above three camps, boot camps in general, and anything else.

Sincerely,

John Freeman

Generally average preparation time for PMP exam is 180 hours. There is no thumb rule but based on my experience in dealing with PMP aspirants. If you are an experienced PM you can do it in 50 hours or so, but below that is rare, so you would be the first one on this forum to report clearing PMP exam on 5th day of the bootcamp.

I am more than happy to answer your questions. I mentor for PMI. You can contact me at frances.t@pmstudy.com.

While a master's degree will help you do the work of a project well, the course content of your program typically doesn't cover exam content. You'll definitely want an exam prep for that. You've done good research already.

When selecting a provider, first ensure the provider is a PMI Registered Education Provider (REP). Look also for the methodology - does it include a variety of learning that suits your needs. Also consider whether there are any additional 'perks.' For example, with PMstudy (REP ID 2053) you'll get a free online course that provides 20 PDUs toward your first recertification cycle. That matters too! PMstudy faculty interact directly with students before and after, as well as during the class. Just a little more insight.
