PMP Aspirant.. Need Advice help..

 Hello All,

I am a new member to this great forum. I have an IT backgroung of aroung 5+ Years and looking forward to crack PMP. Earlier, I have cleared online exams like SCJP, SCWCD so am aware of online exams and great forums of these kinds.

To start with I have purchased "Head First PMP" as its the book that I used for my Sun Certification and liked it very much. I am planning to do 35 Hrs Contract Hours from SP Jain Mumbai. Could anybody suggest the experirnce of this Institure.

I will definately read the bible i.e. PMBOK but just after I get comfortable with initial concepts/Processes of PMI from Head First book.I would appreciate if somebody can tell whether 3-4 months of study is enough to pass this exam?

Thanks in advance for all your replies.

Regards,

Sidd...

Seems like you are a developer and want to do PMP. Do you have the required PM experience of 4500 hours? Study time depends on the level of your PM expertise.

Hello,

Thanks for your reply. I may be wrong but here is what I read on the PMP website...The definition of experience says that :

"Project management experience hours refers to the number of hours an applicant has spent leading and directing project management-related tasks. The applicant does not have to have been a project manager but must have played a significant role in the portion of the project in which he or she was involved and must have led or directed project tasks. The applicant could have been a team lead, functional lead, technical lead, project sponsor, meeting facilitator or subject matter expert"

Forgot to mention that I am doing MBA right now and in the internship phase (Last phase of my MBA). My 5 years of experience include working in CMMI level 5 companies as developer/Lead in projects which follows all the standard project management practices. Please let me know if there is any problem with the eligibility. Thank you in advance...
