To my update, PMBOK v5 will not be release before 2013. This means that even its release in Jan-2013, PMI would give minimum 6-9 months to change the questions with new version. With this said so, if you have plan to appear for PMP exam by August-2013, you are absolutely safe with PMBOK v4.
No. You just have to give PMP exam once in your lifetime and then you just submit 60 PDUs every 3 years (after you have done PMP) to continue to be a PMP.
Your concern is "Definitely" one of the BEST that I have ever come across on Zilla. People like you keep the spirit of Zilla alive.
So, as regards to your question, allow me to ask you a Question. Anyone clearing PMP based on PMBOK-1, was it a requirement for him/her to appear when PMBOK-2 was launched? Likewise, anyone clearing on PMBOK-3 to clear PMBOK-4 and henceforth?
Please think about it. Once you get the answer, Congratulations!
Thanks for posting such questions. These keep me up well.
It typically takes 6 - 9 months before a new version of the PMP comes out and another few months more till it gets deployed as the official exam and PMI announces a deadline to complete the current PMP. So if your taking the PMP within the next year you should be find to take the current one on v4.0.
