Passed PMP today 10.10.14

Passed the PMP exam today.
This started for me about 2 years ago when the college closest to me offered a Project Management certificate for taking 4 online courses via a continuing education class. I took those 4 classes and received the certificate. I then decided to go ahead for my PMP exam. I took two additional courses from the continuing education PMBOK Prep 1 and PMBOK Prep 2. This class helped me have a general prep to start studying for the exam.
I filled out my application last October 2013 and did not get audited. I wish I had known that you should apply for the exam after you had studied. This caused me to worry about timing for studying since you have only the year to pass. I set my exam date for Sept but found closer to time I was not ready. I rescheduled and paid the $70 fine.
I used the following resources to study:
Rita's book (read fully 1 time, then used several more times for resource)
PMBOK read during my PMBOK classes, then used as a followup study.
Scorco book for exam questions (free if you have a PMI membership)
Exam Central
Lots of free resources for free test questions
I ended up answering about 1700 questions
I felt Rita's questions were easier - I received a higher score on these than other sources
I felt out of the other sources, Exam central questions were harder than Rita's and the Scordo book.
I ran out of time but my next source would have been the Lehman's 175 questions.
I also viewed a lot of videos on youtube. My favorites were from Saket Bansa from Izenbridge. He uses white boards and writes out formulas on them, really going through the concepts. Super great since I am a visual learner.
I was getting between a 70-80 percent on average.I was really concerned since other posts were consistently getting 80% or over. I did only one timed 200 question exam, the rest I did not time. If I had more study time, I would have done more timed exams to really prepare me for the panic you might have when you get to the exam.
I drove by the exam building the day before the exam to make sure I knew where to park etc. I arrived about 20 minutes prior to 9 am. They let me read the rules then put my items in the locker. I took the tutorial for the computer (took about 3 minutes) then I used the rest to brain dump. I wrote down all the formulas, chart 3-1 from pmbok, and additional items like Maslow, McGregor, etc.
I felt that the time went by so fast. When I had 150 questions left, I felt I was going to have an anxiety attack. I was running out of time and had marked a ton of questions for review. If i wasn't sure about the answer, I marked it for review. Also, if the question was super long, I chose my best guess and marked it for review. I ended up with 20 minutes for review which I got 1/2 way through the review when the time ended. I put my head down and started praying. I skipped the survey. I peeked through my hands and saw, congrats, you have passed. I started crying, yes crying in the exam room. All that time I had spent studying and preparing had paid off.
In general for the exam:
3-4 questions on Tuckman ladder
10 or so questions on EV, PV, CPI etc
1 question on EAC
Tons of situational questions- they are so long and really eat up your time
ITTO's
2-3 questions on control charts
A good number of change control questions
A good number of procurement questions

Hope this helps.

Congratulations. Which exams did you take, when you say 1700 Questions

Overall post is quite helpful

Mr. Saket bansal helps people here on PMZilla also. His videos are good I have seen them too. This is their Youtube channel http://www.youtube.com/user/izenbridge

admin,
I used the following:
450 questions from Rita's book
400 Exam central
800 Scordo book
100 questions from pm prepcast

Hope this helps

I have a question please, i have a few days left for my exam and i am very worried. I have so far I have so far used exam simulator http://exam.pm-exam-simulator.com (link is external), exam central http://www.examcentral.net/ (link is external), head first labs www.headfirstlabs.com/PMP (link is external), Andy Crowe's questions and Oliver's 75 questions. My exam is soon; i have scored around an 80% on all of the above except Oliver's questions which i seem to be scoring much less on! I am not sure which questions are more like PMP exam from the list above? what else can i do?

It sounds like to me you might be in good shape for the exam. I read that if you score 50% or better on Oliver Lehman's questions you were doing well since they are really hard.
I felt that the math questions and charts were not that difficult. I had the most trouble with the situational questions regarding starting of the planning process/integration change management and closing.
How many times 200 questions have you taken?
Are you planning a brain dump?

Congratulations to you !!!
