Passed PMP today!!
Hello All-
Passed my PMP today. Just wanted to thank you all for passing on your suggestions and 'Lessons Learnt'.
When i started studying, i began reading just the PMBOK which i thought was very dry and detailed. After visiting this site, i read somewhere that PMBOK should be considered as the supplement to the many books available in the market. That is when i started with Rita's book. She has indeed made the study very simple and interesting. So, i did the following..
Read Rita's book like 3 times and tried giving tests (since i read that just reading her book would be sufficient). I did score in the low 70's and It is then that i realised that reading PMBOK is necessary. So i read PMBOK like twice (these were quick readings). Then, I again started doing mock tests and i was touching high 70's and low 80's.
I did the following tests.. Started with the ones which are free... It was difficult to sit for 4 hours at a stretch so started with 50 qn tests (three - i think pmzilla's test and oliver Lehman's and one more which i am not able to remember) and then 100 (one). Then the big ones...
1) Headfirst (free exam - 200 qns) - scored like 82%
2) I gave one Pmstudy (first free test) - scored 70% and the i decided to read PMBOK.
3) Registered for Pmstudy (3 exams for 60$ for 12 days) - Pmstudy Test 2 - Scored 77
4) Pmstudy test 3- 80
5) Pmstudy test 4- 72 (this i thought was pretty tough)
I did not choose Rita's fasttrack since i wanted to test myself outside the RITA WORLD.
By this time i was ready and just followed the advice to relax on the night before the test which really helped. Also, as i read somewhere no preparation is going to be enough (-:
PMP Exam - I thought the exam was tough and exhaustive (do take rest before the exam). It used to take me close to 3 hrs and 45 mins in the practise exams and it was the same during the actual PMP exam.
My suggestion would be
a) try completing your studying (as soon as possible)
b) start integrating your knowledge (beacuse it takes time to switching between topics)
c) give some pratice tests
d) give your exam (since no practice is going to be enough)
So, all the very best to you'll and THANK YOU!!
