Passed PMP exam today ( June 14 th 2009) - First Try

Hello everyone.

It feels good to write my lessons learned and I am so glad to clear this exam.

I used Rita and PMBOK and my study time was 21 days total- an agressive schedule due to lack of time.

The exam surprised me today ( pleasantly though). Lots of scenario based questions and very few calculations. I did not memorize ITTO, . Although I tried earlier and gave up.

I am glad I did not waste time with memorizations since the questions are very tricky and test your knowledge. Some were wordy questions and others were very direct questions with very wordy answers( options) .

Watch out for the free mock exams that can  cause more harm than good, because some of them ask questions that require you to remember PMBOK line by line. The real exam is nothing like that ( Atleast not the one I saw today). I did find some good exams online that helped , and were a bit closer to the real exam in some ways. ( not 100% same as real exam) ..

The memory aids at PMZilla are beneficial for those last minute revisions. I found it useful. I also liked the lessons learned on this forum.

I have added more details regarding my PMP exam experience  and mock exams here.

Feel free to ask questions if you need clarifications and good luck to everyone.

Hi Sachin,

Congratulations on your achivement. I want to ask you

1.  How Rita's book helped you? Do you feel that it is not possible to pass the exam only relying on PMBOK?

2.  If Rita is required, do you have this book in hard or soft copy? Can you share this soft copy if you have?
