Today I have passed the PMP exam. First, would like to thank God for giving me the opportunity to pass the exam. Then thanks goes to Rita Mulcahy and her wonderful exam preparation Guide (Exam Prep) and Simulator (Fastrack)  and then all the members of PMZilla who have always kept me updated by providing latest info and sharing knowledge.

Below is my study plan I have followed and it worked perfectly for me –

  1. Rita (Exam Prep) – Cover to cover to understand what’s about the PMI Project management methodology.
  2. PMBOK5 – Cover to cover, understanding and finding information that is missing in Rita’s Guide. I loved the Glossary section, used it to understand the terms used in PMBOK.
  3. Attended the 5 days PMP exam preparation Boot camp – Cleared the understanding.
  4. Review Rita and PMBOK – Start making my own notes.
  5. Try online exam free exams - to identity the weakness of the understanding and find gaps of the knowledge.

  1. Scheduled the actual PMP exam with PROMETRIC.
  2. Third Rita’s simulated PMP Exam (Scored 85%)
  3. Review notes; write formulas, ITTO every day until the actual PMP Exam.

Would like to share the exam experience –

  1. Few direct ITTO questions. I used PMBOK page-78 and 61 to related management plan and documents. Then tried to link the Input and output. I only memorized those tools for Scope, Schedule/Cost, Quality, Risk and HR theories. Rests are just understanding and Mind Mapping.
  2. Most of the Questions are scenario based, so it followed the following technique to identify the right answer-
    1. Which process group?
    2. Which knowledge area?
    3. If talking about problems, is it already happened or  an identified risk?
    4. The question talking about Project Scope/Product Scope, Process Quality/product Quality, Deliverables/Final accepted products, Verified deliverables/accepted deliverables?
