Passed PMP Exam First Attempt Today March 23rd
Hi,
I am very happy to share the good news that I have just passed the PMP exam today, which is my first attempt. I would like to express my sincere thanks to PMZilla website and forum friends for their valuable experience inputs.
My Test results are All Proficient in 5 groups.
I used below resources to get the knowledge>
1) PMBOK 4 Edition
2) Rita's latest edition book
3) Andy Crowe's book
I have taken several mock exams ( free and paid) for the practise.
1) Insite Velociteach exams - 7 days access (came with book)
2) HeadFirst Free 200 mock exam
3) Obviously Oliver Lehman's sample exams
4) ExamCentral
5) TechFaq
6) Other iPhone apps etc.
7) PMStudy Sample Exam (200 Qs)
Paid Exams:-
1) PMZilla 200 questions with bonus ( V Good and tough)
2) PMStudy Study Exams ( VV Good)
I started to prepare for this exam last 4 months. I was not so serious when I started due to family and my office work. Hardly got any time to spend the hours for preparation.
But actual and real serious preparation took during last 8 weeks only. Initiall I went through Andy Crowe book and got basic understanding on knowledge areas. Then started with PMBOK which was very hard for me to grasp in my first pass. So I started again taking second pass of the same This time, it was so good and felt comfortable and easy. I thought to take the exam after that, but after looking many posts/experiences thought to read Rita's book and so went through this book all chapters almost.
And in between of these readings, I started taking mock exams to get to know my understanding level. Not at the end of all preparation and it helped to gauge my gaps and improvements. I felt comfortable with my scorings, where I was getting approx 80% or more in most of the exams recently taken.
So I decided to give attempt for the real exam and have given today afternoon. I almost ran out of time to complete this exam as some questions are really length. Finally I answered all questions in 3 hrs 55 mins sparing just 5 minutes for review for marked questions. I reviewed 5 to 6 questions and time ran out. I took survey at the end and end it to see my result.
Felt so much relieved and happy after seeing Congratulations message on the screen.
I would like to give this credit to my wife and kid as they gave me immense support in all my preparation. I rarely spent time with them during weekend etc. My Special Thanks to them .
And finally great thanks to PMZilla forums, which helped me in understanding the wholepmp exam scenario and to better face this exam.
All the best to everyone, who is going to take the exam. Thanks

All the Best Chndram and Congrats...
Congrats on passing PMP. You get Ps in all and spend 3.55 minutes on the exam and come out with 5 Ps. Wow! Excellent. This clearly proves you spent a lot of time on thinking and re-thinking on the questions and coming out with flying colours. Great. Congrats again Partner.
All the best Chandram on your exam. I am not a PMP so I'm not sure you will pay heed to my suggestion and that is please read and re-read and then again all the questions very very carefully and you would be a PMP soon. All the very very best....

Yes, spent good time
Yes, I used complete 3hr 55 min to finish the exam.
Actually My game plan was different. I did not want to spend more time on final review. I planned to read and re read question and answers carefully on first pass and choose the best answer I can, before proceeding to next question.
Because, I experienced some problem while practising sample exams. Even though I did right answers, on final review time, I did over think and changes answers to wrong and that was the good lesson learnt. so this time I thought to believe more in my first thinking and verified thereitself to confirm and proceed to next questions.
And second thing is that some of my questions are very lengthy and I thought if I leave those, may be on final review stress time, I could not read properly, so decided to fix that problem thereitself by reading thoroughly.
Ofcourse it cost me good amount of time and luckily my last 50 questions are not lengthy so I was able to cover it up quickly.
This is just my plan based on my practise and can't assure this work with others.:) It worked for me..
And All the Best for every one who is going to take exam soon. :) I am sure u will do fine.
Dont get scared by reading tooooo many reviews/lessons learnts.. U prepare well on PMBOK and just practise practise practise, u will be alright I guess.
