Passed PMP with 3MP and 2P - Lessons learnt
Read PMBOK cover to cover. Thats my advice and thats what I felt during exam today.
Read RITA initially to get flow of the processes but PMBOK Is the bible.
Its the same concept like in school we Preferred GUDE BOOKS instead of NCERT COURSE books but the exam content was never out of the NCERT. SAme goes for PMP.
for ITTO no need to memorize. WHILE STUDYING YOU JUST NEED TO EXPLAIN TO YOURSELF WHATS THE MAJOR OUPUT OF THE PROCESS AND WHy IT NEEDS THose INPUTS AND WHY YOU USED a specific TOOL OR TECHNIQUE. if you make a table yourself for each process area by hand then it will serve you well and will become easy to revise.
In exam you are given four choices so you have to eliminate only three. If you know major output you know the answer already if not then looking at the questions and asking yourself the same questions will help you achieve the right answer.
Learn all 47 processes by heart. Do a braindump before the exam starts on the rought sheet. Same goes for EMV question. Having the process and formulas in front of your eyes reduces the amount of time you take to solve the question.
Another important questions were conflict management, Communication channels, 8-10 EMV, risk avoidance , a lot of questions on closure and type of contracts.
The final thing which prepares you for the exam is PMSTUDY simulated exams. Nearest to the real exam. My score was around 67% in first. 71% in second 74% in third and 77% in fourth.
These exam will prepare you for the situational and tricky questions that appear in the PMP exam.
HARDWORK ALWAYS PAYS.
