Hello Everyone,
I am very happy to inform here that I have passed PMP on Monday (11th-Aug) with 2 P & 3 MP.
It took almost two months to prepare for the exam. I first studied Rita cover to cover and PMBOK 5 cover to cover. Then started taking mock exams available on the internet and provided by my Training Institute, which helped me to iron out the gaps in Knowledge Areas.
Real exam is different than the mock exams we gave, however, it really helped us to build stamina to seat for 4 hours, develop habits of understanding the questions, how to eliminate if more than one seems correct and so on…
Initially got 60% in those mocks and slowly got improved to 80%-85% range.
My advice to aspirant is, first of all have study plan with keeping exam date in mind, stay focused on it and track the progress. Many books and references are available, follow only one or two, and of course PMBOK should be one of those. Keep practicing mock exams and try to iron out the gaps.
In my final exam, I got many questions on formulas – 4-5 on EVM, 3 on communication channel, 2 on three point estimations questions were straight forward and simple calculation.
There were few on ITTO but tricky one, questions were built around scenarios.
Got many questions on Change Management, Risk & Quality, which were very similar with real scenario.
Did not get any question with EXCEPT, NOT, LEAST pattern but most of with “what BEST or NEXT manager should do”
I tried to take one question per minute, so it took almost 3 hours & 40 minutes to finish all questions and then spend some time to review 8-10 review questions. Was very nervous but excited at the end of the exam, and finally got congratulations message.
