Passed PMP on 24th May 2013
Hi All,
Like many others, I am also a regular visitor to this forum and this forum section of LL was my favorite. It was good to read others experience and it helped in many ways during the preparation.
I had a short time for preparation just a month so I was always browsing for topics where in the members said, passed in 10 days, 15 days.
For my preparation I referred Rita, Andy, HeadFirst and PMBOK. I was not able to take many mock tests. I managed to do PMStudy 1, Oliver Lehman 75, Rita Super PMP(just 100) and then 3 Scordo tests in the last 3 days.
The exam was good and I feel one can score good and pass easily if you prepare well. In my case the EEF factors affected to some extent in the exam hall. The mouse was not proper and the invigilator there felt that if the mouse is moving then it is good... but since we use mouse everyday we know how a good mouse should function. She changed the mouse pad for me but there was so much dust below the mouse itself that i tore a peice of the paper they gave me and cleaned the mouse, it must have taken 4-5 minutes. There was lot of noise in the room due to some electronic equipment failure.. so we all were given ear plugs.
I was under the impression that the exam will be easy for me to manage as during mock I could finish the exams early but in the real exam I could not take any break and was running out of time and in the last few minutes left, it was like 14 minutes, 14 questions, 10 minutes and 10 questions and that was building more pressure on me. Had no time to review. And on top of that the person sitting next to me, giving some other exam had the habit o reading out his questions loud so I had to interrut him. And in the last 5-7 minutes which was so crucial for me, he might have got his result so he was so loud in expressing his excitement and breathing that sigh of relief, so it was so distracting for me.
I did my braindump of page 43, formulaes, motivational and quality theories but I hardly refererred. It's true, once you have understood means you have understood. It's mapped nicely in your brain and you don't realy need external help for that.
One more thing, in my last day mock tests of Scordo, I was not getting very good marks but somehow I had this confidence that I know everything.
Overall it was a good experience. And I am happy with my result.
I cleared it in my first attempt with so less prep time and moreover with office, home, 2 kids its tough. Though hubby was trying to help in many ways possible, at home front you cannot rely on them fully. Good that I had my mom to help me at home in the last one week.
Wishing all the best to all the members who will be taking their exams soon!!!
