Passed PMP, 22 Jan 2011

Hello All,

First of all thanks to this this forum.

It was very useful to read through peoples experiences to acheive my PMP goals.

"I AM, I CAN, I WILL"

Sounds very simple but very powerfull.   I got this inspiration from someone's blog who passed the exam at the age of 24.

I passed the exam yesterday. I found the exam actually not very dificult.

I was able to finish the exam in under 3 hours. I relied almost completely on PMBOK and Mulcahy.  I found Rita's questions to be lot tougher than the actual exam. In actual exam I was able to pinpoint the choice quickly.

In the end I dont think its a difficult exam and PMBOK and Mulcahy would be more than enough for preparing the exam.

Practice!!! Practice!!! Practice!!!

In regards with the preparation time it depends on each person.  My suggestion is try the 200 exam mock tests and should be able to get.

Around 75% for new tests.

Around 80% plus for repeated tests.

Good luck to all future PMP's!!!!!!!!

Thanks

Uday.

Congratulations Uday on your PMP .

I cleared PMP last Dec-2010....and I completely agree with your statement that the exam actually is not very dificult.

Even I was able to finish the exam in under 3 hours. Reading PMBOK and Rita is more than enough.

You are absolutely right, Rita's questions are lot tougher than the actual exam. Actual exam questions are straight forward and we can easily pinpoint the choice quickly.

But yes, practice..practice and practice is the mantra for success.

Well, I am  preparing for my capm exam. I am currently reading the PmBok fourth edition, at chapter 11 at the moment. I also got Rita's book which i intend to read after pmbok. Basically, i seriously need updated past questions to back up whatever i have read on these books so if you have any materials that i could use i would appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

It would be difficult to tell which questions appeared in the exam. My suggestion would be:

1. In Rita's book, at the end of every chapter there is a test, do all those tests 2-3 times. Although actual exam questions would be simpler than those

2. Give this Free exam:  http://www.oliverlehmann.com/pmp-self-test/75-free-questions.htm

3. Time permits, try Head First PMP online exam simulator: http://www.headfirstlabs.com/PMP/free_exam/
