Passed PMP - 15th September 2015
Greetings All,
I am very pleased and proud to say I passed the PMP exam on the 15th September, 2015. The words I can express seeing "Congratulations" appear on screen is sheer exhilaration and relief!
I can say that it was an arduous journey to reach this milestone but the end result is well worth it! I would like to thank the Almighty for His blessing and to the other posters on this forum for their valuable contribution which helped me prepare & pass the exam.
I would like to share my learnings with all & I hope it helps you clear the PMP exam:
RESOURCES USED
PMP EXAM PREP BOOKS - Rita Mulchahy Exam Prep 8th Ed and Andy Crowe (Read 2x each). Completed each end of chapter tests. Kept a record of my scores ( e.g. In Excel ) on first and second pass through reading the books and taking the tests. I noted down my weaker topics and reviewed the material.
McGraw Hill PMP Certification Mathematics
PMBOK 5th Edition - Tackling the PMBOK
1. ONLINE COURSE - Completed PMStudy's online course, watching the video clips for each knowledge area helped me gain a good overview of the PMBOK knowledge areas, ITTO's, process groups.
2. I then read through EDWARD's notes - http://edward-designer.com/web/pmp/
3. Read PMBOK first time thoroughly - 1st pass through
4. Read Shraddha's notes - https://shraddhapmpnotes.wordpress.com which really helped cement the KEY points as they were easier to digest than the PMBOK
MOCK EXAMS
1. Oliver Lehman - 75Qs, 175Qs
2. PMTraining.com - Highly Recommend. Customizable tests for KA, Process Group, full length exam. Provides excellent explanations, PMBOK references, test performance statistics
3. PMStudy - 4 practice tests. Highly Recommend - on par with actual PMP exam questions. Level of difficulty increases from Practice test #1 to Practice test #4. Provides good explanations & references to PMBOK for each question.
4. Christopher Scordo - good practice
5. ExamCentral - good practice
6. Rita Mulcahy - PMP Exam ( Fastrack 8 CD ) - excellent
7. Andy Crowe - PMP Exam - very good
8. Cornelius Fichtner - 9 full length mock exams ( includes 1 mock exam for ITTO's only ) - excellent.
ONE WEEK BEFORE EXAM DAY
- I skim read the PMBOK 5th Edition AND read through the Glossary - critical!
- completed one 4 hour mock exam each day ( except the day before the exam ) - simulating exam conditions
- completed a practice test ( from PMP Mathematics Book ) each day
- brain dumped the formula's, processes, KA's within a 15 minute timeframe ( for 7 days )
EVE OF EXAM DAY
- Glanced over PMBOK glossary ( that's it )
Good luck & I wish you all well in your quest to earn the PMP certification!
