Passed PMP
Passed PMP on Sept 10 2012 with 3 Ps and 2 MPs
My Preparation lessons :
Prepared for about 6 weeks, averaging 4-5 hours a day.
-Read PMBOK guide to start with
-Read through Rita's guide for better understanding and solved the pratice exam questions at the end of eacj chapter in Rita's book
-Referred Head First PMP for understanding and solving critical path method related topics
-Read through Andy Crowe's guide once - a very good Book for a first reading along with PMBOK guide (for better understanding of PMBOK guide)
-Took Head First PMP test, Olver's test and PMPStudy free test as well as paid tests
-Re-read PMBOK twice and Rita once more for selected chapters (Like communication management, HR management and Risk management topics)
-Revision via Rajesh Nair's notes
Finally took the exam on Sept 10th and passed. Exam was lengthy and I took about 4 full hrs completing and no time left for any revision. However, I felt comfortable and was conident that I would clear the exam and which was true after few minutes as the results were displaying on the computer screen :-)
My 2 cents for the PMP exam aspirants
-Actual exam is not that tough. However, the words and questions in the exam are very catchy and hence it requires a very good preparation
-Be confident and plan your study in advance so that you don't over study
- Uderstand the PMBOK guide and PMIsim words well.
-Have enough time for final revision after taking all the pratice and Mock tests
-Have a nice sleep and be fresh/relaxed for the exam (In my case, I didn't have a good sleep before the exam and was tired mid way through the exam! Hence I needed all 4 hrs to complete the exam, forget about the revision!)
All the very best to all PMP aspirants
