Passed PMP on 10th February 2012

Dear all,

Passed PMP on 10th Feb.

A BIG thank you to everyone who has contributed to the PMP forums. I have read the lessons learned from all of our friends at PMZilla and acknowledge that this has been exteremely helpful.

Scores : Intiating and Closing = MP , Planning, Executing , Monitoring and Control = P

P = Proficient . MP = Moderately Proficient.

Study period :

2 and half months. Later during the study period , felt bored and thought should have given earlier may be 2 months is enough

Material

  • Simplilearn training to get 35 PDUs

  • Head First

  • Rita 's 6 th edition

  • PMBOK

  • Rajesh Nair's Notes ( RN and Chowdury , You are  LEGENDS  )

How did I go about this

====================

Took Simplilearn

Read HeadFirst, understand the concepts and visual diagrams can be very helpful for remembering.Read Rita, it is very good.

Please make sure you do all the Qs at the end of the chapters

And then gave the following exams

PMStudy, HeadFirst, Simplilearn and some others. Results ranged from 63% Simplileran to 86% HeadFirst

Made Flashcards to get the ITTO. Found its very difficult to remember all of them , but it is worth writing them in flashcards so that you get a hang of them.

VERY Important: Please understand the concepts behind the ITTO

Bought stationary like highlighters to highlight important concepts.

PMBOK: While giving the tests realised that questions would be coming from PMBOK. Read the PMBOK and made it my friend.  Please read the PMBOK as many times as you can ,not word to word but still glance them. Take a very genuine interest in the concepts.

Questions

  • Mostly situational

  • Not very easy but not very difficult also

Last week

  • Relaxed

  • Read PMBOK only

  • Read Rajesh Nair , could not help by acknowledging again your contrbution

Day of the exam

  • Took exam in Melbourne at 8:00 in the morning.

  • Took the first 50 questions at a slow pace, slowly increased the pace and kept an eye on the watch.

  • Marked qs as necessary. Finished around 40 mins ealier. Took 1 break in between.

  • Reviewed the marked qs

Cheers,

Ambarish
