Passed in First attempt 4Ps and 1M

  • 2 weeks of preparation
  • Read Rita's thrice
  • 3 mock tests
  • Redo the wrong quetions multiple times

I should say I am a very lucky guy but I am glad I was able to clear the test. Rita's book is awesome, it has everything that you need to pass the test.

Preparation:

Week 1

  • Day 1-2: Started with a 2 day fast reading of Rita's book. This gave me an overview of the topics on the test.
  • Day 3: Took a mockup exam -- scored 52%, this gave me a basic idea of where I stand.
  • Day 4-7: Started detailed study of Rita's book. Took 4 days to complete. Solved all the questions at the back of each chapter, diligently went through all the questions that I got wrong.

Week 2

  • Day 8: Took a mockup exam -- scored 64%. At this point I knew I was in a danger zone. I had to bring this up to atleast 75% to be in a comfortable position for the test
  • Day 9-10:  Did Rita's for the third time, took two days to complete. But many of the concepts were more clear to me this time. I focused on the topics where I did poorly on the mock test. This was very very very very helpful.
  • Day 10-13: Solved many more questions over these 3 days, referring to online forums, youtube videos and Rita's. In the last mock exam I scored 74%.

Exam day:

4 hours was very very long and it was difficult to stay focused all along. But some tips

  • Average 1 minute per question, not more than 3 minutes on a question
  • Mark the questions. Some questions are clarified as I was answering others
  • Use 4 hours

This was my score

Initiation -- P

Planning -- M

Executing -- P

Monitoring & Controlling -- P

Closing -- P

Once again, I would say I have been lucky. 2 weeks is a short time to prepare for this test. Questions on the test are very situational. Real experience and knowledge on the subject is very essential to get the questions right.

Gook luck :)

Congratulations on your PMP.

Just amazing!!  Getting thru the exam with 4 Ps , with just 2 weeks prep, using only Rita, and not reading PMBOK!!

Only one word- Amazing! I took 4 months to muster up enough courage to schedule the exam.

Out of curiosity, were you studying full time these last 2 weeks?

Yes, I studied full time for two weeks. Had nothing on my plate for that time.

Mercurie, I agree with you. It is absolutely amazing to say the least!. Congrats man!!.

congrates on your PMP .Its amazing you completed PMP in only 2 weeks of study..

OMG. Clearing PMP with only two weeks preparation??? Its a Wonder, Miracle. Keep it up my friend. :)

Congrats Sharathe!! I shoud say WOW!!

I have one question for you and would be glad if you could clarify this for me.

My friend took the exam recently and mentioned that she was able to choose only one answer for all of the questions but my understanding was that some of the questions would have multiple answers and we need to choose all of them to get to the question marked as "correct".

What was your experience? Did you also have answers listed with radio buttons, allowing you to choose one answer only?
