Online training for 35 contract hours

Hi,

I am based in India; and have been preparing for PMP for past 3 months. I have gone thorugh the Head First book and PMPBoK. Now I have been consistently scoring about 70% in various mock exams I've given.

I need to attend a traning for the mandatory contract hours. Please suggest me the one which will cost me least and is also good.

Thanks and Regards

Nitin

Hey Nitin,

For you I do not see any need for actual classroom session, as you have already applied such knowledge by reading books in these 3 months. Excellent!

There are two ways you can get 35 hours PDU.
1. This is FREE. I am sure you are a working professional and you must be attending some project management session or training in your company. Check with your HR if they can give you in writing that you have attended 35 hours of project management training/workshop during these zyx dates. This will work!
2. Search google and see who is giving 35 hours PDU at least cost. You should get around INR 5000-8000 through some online courses.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for your response Saket.

Yes, I have been working as a PM for past 4 years and have attended some trainings as well. Will getting this in written from our HR work? What is the procedure for submitting this to PMI and get them to accept this?

And what else you think I should prepare for giving the exam.

Thanks and Regards

Nitin

Hi Nitin,

You need to do an online course first. Something which is not very heavy on your pocket since you are already doing so very well.

You do NOT need to send anything to PMI. Keep the certificate that you get from the online course provider handy and you need to submit, only, if your application is selected for auditing. Hopo NOT that you are selected for auditing though nothing happens except a loss of few days and some money since you have to send the desired papers to PMI in PA or Pensylvania, USA.

Try doing a course, where apart from the mandatory 35 hours, you also get a bunch of quality questions. PMstudy, PMChamp, Simplilearn are few options.

Warmly, KK....

Or else, you can also do the mandatory 35 hours training from Saket Sir (SS) provided you are in Delhi. I think, not sure, SS is based out of Delhi-NCR.

SS can also suggest you the name of places where the cost is not very high, if you are not from saadi Dilli.

Warmly, KK....

Thanks a lot KK. Which online traninig would you suggest?

Hi Nitin,

I think SS would be the best person to suggest you a course which is not very expensive. Honestly speaking, I never did any online course so I can not really say. Moreover, if I take a single name, there would be MANY emails suggesting I am representing that particular org

I will give you an example. I took the exam after studying for 15-17 days with no knowledge of page 43 of PMBOK or ITTOs or PMBOK as a whole and, expectedly, failed. And while browsing once I came across the questions of www.pmpforsure.com. I liked it and referred the name of PMP4sure on pmzilla and lot of people said something is fishy. Wow! That is when I decided, nopes I aint talking about any particular institute or course. Period. However, this did not stop me from admiring few individuals, SS being right on top. Anmol Sinha of PMPforsure for his honesty and few others like Aliweb, Saurabh, Murli in USofA (who brilliantly cracked his exam 3-4 days back, WOW!), Beataanna, Admin, and few more.

So, lets wait what SS has to offer on this. I, like many, would be waiting for his take.

Warm regards, KK.....

Dear Saket,

I didn't know that you also provide classroom training. Did you really mean this - "For you I do not see any need for actual classroom session, as you have already applied such knowledge by reading books in these 3 months. Excellent!" or did you imply that I am being foolish and I should go for it?

Actually the main reason for me opting for online training is that I won't be able to get leaves to attend the training. Please suggest me the best course of action in such a case.

Nitin

Hi Nitin,

Apologies for barging in. The question is not raised to me and SS should answer this. However, I thought of telling you that SS would never imply FOOLISH even if you or someone were scoring in 30-40%. He is someone who always inspires people in the right earnestness. A tru REP, for sure.

Trust me Nitin, you are doing v v well. Keep up the tempo and you will sail through. Bilkul aaraam se. Take a chill pill and enjoy very few remaining days of your non-PMP days since soon you are joining the bandwagon :)

Warmly, KK....

Thanks a lot Saket and KK. You guys have been a great help.

Yes, I am into PMP training since 5 years. But for the sake of this public forum and my contractual agreements, I would not revel any further details.

You are not foolish at all, if you were I would have said right in the start. I am down to earth person and do straight talk. The way you have acquired PMP quality knowledge, you do not need any class room PMP course.

Please try your best to save tax paid money you have earned as far as practicable. Talk to your company HR and see if your company can give you in writing that you have attended 35 hours of “Project Management” training in your company during these xyz dates. Once you have this letter you are all done. As Kranti has said, you will only require this proof if you are audited and not for anything else. Audit happens randomly for 10% of people on paying exam fee.

Second option is get PDU through online courses to save about 50% money from class room training. Most of the class room training would cost you around 12,000 to 15000 INR while these online PDU would cost you around INR 7000. Here are some of the recommendations from my side:
