Passed PMP on 05/Apr/2013
There is no formula to pass PMP ( still memorize EVM ). It's an art & passion to pass it. I am not kidding as I figured out that memorization only will not help you to pass it. Revisit Revisit Revisit definition of Project Mangement in PMBOK - again not to memorize it but to understand it in real life/ situational / practical ( sure you are getting what I am trying to emphasize... )
PMP Exam test our ability to apply our PM knowledge, skills, appropriate tools & suitable techniques for a given situation. So when study/mock exams try to visualize yourself in that role and take decisions honestly using your skills.
1. Theories - x,y,z, motivations,needs,80/20 etc.
2. Understand Quality Control vs Quality Assurance
3. Formules - know alternative keywords, practice to pick only needed numbers from questions. Effective question understanding :)
4. Number games : 90 - comm, 55 - non verbal, 38 - paralingual, 80/20 , etc. will help you to quick references.
5. Have charts or black boards in your room to revise key concepts daily.
6.After reading the PMBOK ...Understand it. - Glossary is important, do not ignore it.
7. Match your study hours with Exam time ( helps helps helps .... believe me !!! )
My pointers seems more generic though I think it is enough as most of guys already given specific pointers and good tips as well. So my MANTRA is relax as much as possible on the EXAM DAY and answer all the questions as 240 mins to get it and 200 questions to face.
