Project manager and lifestyle issue

Q.


 Alex is an excellent & professional project manager but interested in sports also. He takes drugs and steroids to remain competitive. the question is, does this violate any of the PMI codes of responsibilities?

Hi Renji,

 

  I have not come across a question yet that addressed someones personal life in regards to the profession, this is a good question. I would say PMI would ideally like to extend the code of conduct to individuals personal lives because it is a reflection on the profession but this may be going a little too far toward " Big Brother" so my guess is no, but a guess either way.

The original question was long one, from certgear. But, the essence is do we need to apply the conduct in other aspects of life also?. Confusing question. Im of the say, it may violate PMI code [ [ responsibilities to follow legally, abide by law]

Drugs and steroid may harm his body, but he uses it to be competitive. Just like eating fast food can harm your body, but you dont violate any code of conduct, except the personal standards you have set for yourself.


Hence here, the person has not violated any code of conduct.
