Passed PMP on 3/18/2013 with 2 weeks prep

Just like many other folks, I was also a silent observer on this forum and reading many lesson's learned on the forum helped me a lot and provided motivation that the exam can be passed with some preparation.

I had almost three weeks to prepare for this exam but due to some work related assignment, I was able to devote only two weeks for the PMP prep (mostly in the weekends). In these two weeks, I completed PMBOK once and had a plan of taking one full length mock test but was not able to do so due to lack of time. I found PMBOK to be very dry but in my opinion it is the only book we need to pass the exam. I strongly recommend taking the mock test as it improves the endurance as 4 hrs is a long time, which I realized during my exam. I found it very hard to focus for 4 hrs straight but was able to complete the exam in 3:40 hrs and had 20 mins to review the questions. I had marked atleast 40 questions and was able to review only 15 before I ran out of time.

I had atleast 4 network diagram questions (1 question per diagram) and 12-15 EVM problems. The EVM problems were easy, however the network diagram questions were more time consuming (may be because I did not practice any problems). Anyway, overall the exam was not difficult and the choices were very clear. Two out of the four choices can be eliminated very easily and the remaining two choices will test your detailed knowledge of Project Management.

I think one thing I did while preparing for the exam was to study ITTO's from the PMBOK thoroughly and that helped me a lot. This is the area, which we don't use it on a daily basis and studying it in detail will surely enhance your knowledge and increase your probability to pass the exam.

I wish All the best for the future PMP aspirants and feel free to ask me any questions you might have.

Congratulations on your success in the exam!

How did you handle the marked questions that you were not able to review? Did you have to 'unmark' them before 'Finishing' the exam, or just 'Finishing' takes care of all such questions that are marked and still pending review? Please let me know.

Thanks.

Hi,

You need not unmark the remainig questions. The exam will automatically end and will take into account such questions.
