Keep reading the posts on PMZilla, there is enough wisdom. I you have a specific question do ask, else the entire forum is about people new to PMP and trying to clear the certification.

i suggest that you should do the following:

you should take into account that the PMBoK's fifth edition will officially be in practice after july 31st, 2013. so if you're planning to take the exam after that, you should get the PMBoK the fifth edition from PMI website. the supplimentary matterials should be planned according to the fifth edition.

1- plan for a deadline that is 4-5 months away.

2- prepare an action plan for your studies.

3- identify your resources ( books: rita's, pmbok, kim heldman's, etc. and practice sources: pmstudy, rita's fastrack,..etc).

4- before you execute the plan, you should know that there must be a certain number of hours per day that you will dedicate to the studies. from a personal experience, if there is no daily comittment to study, the outcome would be so poor.

5- don't just plan to study and then take the exam, the plan should include studying and then revision after studying for at least three times so you fill the gaps in your knowledge and be best prepared for the exam.

these are guidlines and i'm sure there are plenty of members out there who can help you in designing a study plan.

good luck,

moe

Hi Charlie,

First of all know whether you are eligible for sitting in the PMP exam. Then you can take training from some training providers such as PMstudy, Knowledge Woods etc so that you can have the 35 contact hours as well as the exposure to PMP exam mock tests, chapter guides and tests through their online course. Also you can know how to crack the exam. Some of the providers will also provide PMBOK 4th edition soft copy. So you will have a thorough knowledge on PMP and how to to crack it if you take training from a training provider.

All the best!!!
