Critical path

Hi all.

Sorry for my English)

I have some questions about critical path.

1. Why activity on critical path should execute first? Only cause it has longest duration? But what about other activity which is not on crtical path but more importatnt for project?

2. As I understood project duration equals to critical path duration. Is it true?

Critical path is the network path which has longest duration. The activities on critical may not have the longest duration.   Activities on critical path if delayed will delay the project duration, because critical path is the project duration.
