Question from PMStudy? Not sure, please help....

Not sure of the answer...according to PMStudy, conflicting answer in different test sites...

Any suggestions or comments anybody?

The customer accepted your project`s product two weeks ago, but recently complained that some of the product features are not as desired and that the product is not functioning properly. What should you do FIRST?

1 Ignore the customer, since he already accepted the product.

2 Review the customer`s test results.

3 Review the Verify Scope process.

4 Start working on rectifying the errors as reported by the customer.

Hi Manju Kanwar,

The answer, I feel,  should be 2. What does PMStudy say?

I say so because my logic is:

Option 1--- No, it sounds rude and unprofessional

Option 4-- Cant be. Without getting an account of error and change request how can one start working on it.

Option 3 also sounds logical. However, doubting my own process, without knowing the fault,  and verifying it again does not sound right to me either. Hence, I  thought 2 to be more logical and true.

I would be too willing to know what does PMStudy say?

Let others (read successful) pitch in, like SS, Diba, respected Pawarji Sir, Ali, et al.

Warmly,   Kranti Kumar aka KK...

 Hi Mr. Kranti Kumar,

Thanks for your comments.

According to PMStudy, No. 3 in Test 4 is correct.

However, I had done some other free mock test and I am sure I remember seeing answer No. 2 is correct.  Thats why I was confused.

According to me as well, reviewing customers test results would be appropriate and then verify the Scope process.

Is there anybody who can clarify or get rid of my confusion.

Thanks,

Manju

Hi, I am actually an instructor with PMstudy and can help to answer this question.  The BEST answer in this situation is #3 Review the Verify Scope process.  This is the FIRST thing you would want to do since the customer accepted the project's product previously so you should start by going back to review this process (Verify Scope) to ensure nothing was missed and confirm that everything was in order.  Then, you can go and review the customer's test results (option #2).

This is a tricky one...general tip - make sure to evaluate the answer options to see is the answer is too premature to do.  In this case, go back to see if the product was indead accepted previously so you can determine if it is not functioning properly due to a change that has happened since then, or if this is due to a missed requirement, etc.

Hope this helps!

is that how i can sure that my answer would be correct,

but let me expand it more in light of PMBOK and genric sense.

what you will do first

means what is the best option you should do  or do first

reviewing customer's test result is an instant action, and has been done by receiving his complaint.

if its meaning is to retest and will get the results means you are performing verification by own alone.and it will prove your satisfaction only. then what is next

if deliverables are found ok then what happen - you will call customer and verified it again.

if deliverables fails - you will directly take action of change request or corrective actions or repair defect. - In my view-No, because might be your test is not complete as per customer satisfaction.

now in presence of customer it will if passed, then no issue.

if it will fail - then customers  - complaint in joint agreement will also be their and further action will be more valid.

-------------------------------

As per PMBOK, customer satisfaction is prime part of project.

and there is no individual action will be fruitful.

after validation ( quality correctness), acceptance of product is done under the process - verfy scope - and it is always performed with customers consents/presence/satisfactions.

if complaint there - it would be jointly resolved - individual verification will lead you no where.

-------------------------------------------

here in question - questioner wants to judge your proficiency - that what is correct way to deal with customer's problem/issues.

-----------------------------------------------

please correct me where i am wrong.

These clarifications really helped!

Thanks once again Ruth and SSPawarJi.

I am planning to take the exam next week, I have scored 75-80% scores in all the PM Study online tests and also I have taken other mock tests and scored between the range of 60-85% depending on the ones which I had taken.

I am confident to take the exam now, last time I was really nervous due to which I lost focus on the exam and I flunked.

Please advise : If I can go ahead and do the exam again?

Thanks!!!

You are doing very well. You are all ready to take the test.

As I said earlier the answer could be 2 or 3. However, now I realise 3 is better than 2.

Thanks a lot. For me its good knowledge sharing.

Warmly, KK....

All the best for your exam Manju! Be confident - sounds like you are ready :)
