Question regarding PDUs
Submitted by aliweb on Wed, 06/20/2012 - 09:52
Let's say if I pass PMP exam on 1st Jan 2012.
1. So that means I have to earn 60 PDUs by 31st Dec 2014? (duration of 3 years just after I pass exam)
OR
2. I have to earn 60 PDUs after 31st Dec 2014 but before 31st Dec 2017? (duration of 3 years after first 3 years are over)

You will have to show 60
You will have to show 60 PDU by/before 31st Dec 2014 to continue your PMP credentials until 31st Dec 2017. It’s just not PDU, but also you need to pay $60 for the same if you are PMI member or $150 if you do not have PMI membership.

Thanks for clearing that up.
Thanks for clearing that up. So that means I have to earn next 60 PDUs between 1st Jan 2018 and 31st Dec 2020 which will be valid until 31st Dec 2023?

Yes, you are right
Yes, you are right, just to make sure you have understood it correctly, here is detailed example:
01-Jan-2012 – I pass PMP exam, my PMP credentials would be applicable till 31-Dec-2014 only.
[Between 01-Jan-2012 and 31-Dec-2014 I will have to get 60 PDU]
31-Dec-2014 – I show the above earned 60 PDU to PMI and Pay necessary fee by/before this date. My PMP credentials would get extended to 31-Dec-2017 now. PMI would send me a fresh PMP certificate.
[Between 31-Dec-2014 and 31-Dec-2017 I will have to get 60 PDU]
31-Dec-2017 - I show the above earned 60 PDU to PMI and Pay necessary fee by/before this date. My PMP credentials would get extended to 31-Dec-2020 now. PMI would send me a fresh PMP certificate.
And so on…
