PMBOK 4th Edition
Submitted by pmurtagh78 on Mon, 04/23/2012 - 16:26
Hi,
I'm just starting to study for the PMP exam (almost a year after doing the course).
The only study material I have so far is Rita's 6th edition book.
My question is should I purchase the PMBOK 4th edition? If so, is this the book I need - http://www.amazon.co.uk/PMBOK-Fourth-Edition-Pocket-Guides/dp/908753518X/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1335197089&sr=8-2 ?
Thanks guys,
PM

Pmbok4
I believe that Rita's book 6th edition is based on PMBOK4, so if you have no copy of the PMBOK4, you still have the chance of passing the exam by using rita's book alone. Howver, if you take some resources and say mock up tests, reference is given to the Pmbok4, e.g. Page number, etc. in this case u will be blind. Thus, i recommend you still need to have a copy of the PMBOK 4.
The link u refer is not the PMBOK4, you can purchase the book from PMI website, there is also one i saw in amazon, and in rita mulcahy website. This book is published by PMI so you would easily distinguish it.

Dont Buy
Why do you want to buy PMBOK from outside when you can download it from PMI and it is also printable. It would save you a lot of money. This is my opinion. Rest on you. Thanks, KK....

Agree, unless his money is
Agree, unless his money is not enough for registration. Pmbok4 is available for download from pmi wensite but for members' privilege only. So, if he has enough money and he is not yet a pmi member, then better register first, then download the pmbok. If not decided to register yet and just buy instead, i think the cost is less than 50$, not sure :-)

Right
Ideally anyone filling the application form should be a member first as it saves money. 50$ might be okay, but if he is in India, that would be huge. If one is a member of PMI then he/she gets access to lot many other things to read, PMBOK is just one of them Sir... Thanks, KK...
